Tom McCloskey has a varied and fascinating career background. His background uniquely prepared him for the kitchen design and build business he founded in 1987 under the name Sawhorse Designs.
After gaining a BA from Franklin and Marshall College and an MBA at The American University, Tom spent 18 years in sales and consulting for well respected financial firms.
With this background, Tom yearned to be an entrepreneur, work directly with clients and get involved in particular in the home transformation and renovation process.
Sawhorse Designs, located in downtown Millburn, New Jersey, has grown in business size and reputation during the 20 years under his direction.
Tom has never forgotten his marketing and business education and experience. One interesting example: Tom asks his staff, including even the high quality installers, to read part or all of books like the new J.D. Power and Associates book "Satisfaction - How every great company listens to the voice of the customer."
Tom and his wife live locally and have children 15 and 18. His favorite pastime is gardening and the whole family loves the Jersey Shore. Back to top
Becky Wallwey does not have the eclectic background her partners have. But certainly her focused education is a major plus for the team. Becky graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Interior Design. Her specific program had emphasis on Kitchen and Bath Design. This specific course is highly recognized by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. Becky has been an accredited AKBD (Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer) since 2005. She is involved with the NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) and spoken at their meetings.
She has been the senior designer at Sawhorse Designs since September of 2004. Before that she worked as a designer for a cabinet shop in her home state of Nebraska.
Recently Becky has seen the fruits of her design efforts recognized in Design NJ Magazine February/March 2006 and 2007.
Becky is not only an artistic, tasteful, careful, productive designer but she has that unique ability to listen — to really listen to the client — to hear their wishes and needs but still keep it all practical and on budget. When the project is done and the client says they love their kitchen, she feels wonderful.
Becky and her husband also live locally. They own a Britteny Spaniel, they love to run, the shore, reading and whenever she gets the time goes back to visit her home state of Nebraska. Back to top
