LIGHT AND BRIGHT — These clients had definite ideas for their new kitchen in Pine Brook (below and right): a desk area, stainless-steel appliances, a skylight above the main sink, and old-fashioned butler's pantry-type storage. Kitchen designer Jacque Lindstrom of Sawhorse Designs in Millburn, Majewski/Jones architects in South Orange, and contractor Thomas Designs of Millburn teamed to produce a room that's pale but warm. The backsplash's crackled subway tile from Ann Sacks Tile & Stone in New York City set the color scheme; Durango travertine countertops and pale walls also contribute to the light atmosphere. A banquette and bar stools provide seating for meals. The double-bowl farmhouse sink (lower right) is in a small bump-out, the only floor space added during the renovation. A skylight is overhead, as requested by the homeowner.
