HIGH CONTRAST — Who says the butler's pantry has to be a clone of the nearby kitchen? This Short Hills butler's pantry (bottom right) is anything but, taking its cues from Flow Blue china displayed in the kitchen (below left). Equipped with a second dishwasher and refrigerator, the room works hard during catered parties. Materials include a stainless steel backsplash and laminate countertops in the kitchen. The surfaces are tile. The main kitchen challenge was wall space limited by seven entrances, according to Tom McCloskey of Sawhorse Designs. The solution was to put the ovens under the counter and bulk up function in the island: a dishwasher, trash bin, double sink, microwave oven, and bookshelves.
